Glen Eden, Auckland, NZ
Urbanlogic were appointed by the Waitakere Ranges Local Board as the urban designers and landscape architects to design a revitalised Glen Eden Town Centre.
This central space in the middle of Glen Eden is currently occupied by car parks and hugely vehicle dominated. What an amazing opportunity to put our skills to use and design several spaces that flow between each other in the centre of town, enlivening and celebrating the township of Glen Eden!
We envision to create a place of vibrance for Glen Eden.
Visitors can experience a resilient community spirit through embracing the newly anticipated town centre.
Effective shared space design principles are used to connect people to the physical environment and spirit of place at the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges.
To change the disconnected, vehicle-dominated, industrial direction that Glen Eden is heading in by revealing the natural character, cultural and historical values of Glen Eden and its residents. This is to be achieved by building the community’s pride of place through rejuvenating the design of Glen Eden central spaces and promoting resilience by revealing Glen Eden’s strong cultural and historical roots.
